Registration has started on the government’s startup mentorship platform ‘MAARG Portal’

National Mentorship Platform – MAARG Portal: Indian startups are succeeding in making a huge name for themselves not only in the country but also all over the world. In such a scenario, considering the importance of ‘Startup’ in the Indian economy, the central and all state governments of the country are continuously making efforts to promote the ‘Startup Ecosystem’.

Now, with an intention to further strengthen these efforts, the Department of Development of Industry and Domestic Trade (DPIIT) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, has launched a startup app for registration on the MAARG portal.

This information has been informed in a circular of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry. The MAARG portal has been launched to promote the world’s third largest startup ecosystem i.e. ‘Indian Startup Ecosystem’. Starting registration on the MAARG portal on Wednesday, the Government of India has invited startups to apply.

What is MAARG Portal?

This portal is actually a national mentorship platform launched under the Startup India initiative. The full name (full form) of MAARG portal is as follows – M stands for Mentorshipa way advisera way assistanceAnd it means Endurance And G stands for growth ,MAARG portal)

It will be seen to act as a single-window platform for startups across the country to facilitate mentoring across sectors, functions, stages, geographies etc.

Using the Marg portal, Indian startups will have the opportunity to connect with academia, industry experts, successful startup founders, experienced investors as well as advisors and experts from around the world.

Key features of the portal include customizable mentorship programs, mobile friendly user interface, video and audio call options, etc.

How will the MAARG portal work?

Broadly speaking, the MAARG portal will function mainly in three phases, which are as follows;

Step 1: Under this, the government has already onboarded more than 400 experts from various fields on the portal.

Status 2: In this, the government has now appealed to startups across the country to apply, so that they can take advantage of this initiative and become development partners.

Step 3: In this last phase, work will be done to connect experts, consultants and startups included in the portal. Interestingly, the portal will use artificial intelligence (AI) technology to connect startups and experts related to their fields.

Let us tell you that according to the data released by the government, there are more than 82,000 recognized startups across the country, out of which 107 startups have achieved unicorn status (over 1 billion valuation).
