New changes in technology have brought many changes. Human imagination has also started to be affected by it. How artificial intelligence (AI) has changed lifestyles, says Kavitha Pant
Chat GPT, a computer program (bot) is much discussed these days. Humans made it. It reminds me of Dan Brown’s 2017 film ‘Origins’. This thriller film shows how artificial brain machines are a threat to mankind.
This is the story
“There is a devil in each of us and we make this world hell for ourselves” – Oscar Wilde
Today’s big news
‘Origins’ envisions a world where Artificial Intelligence (AI) Compared to humans, it has reached an almost invisible level. Well, it’s 2017. Flash forward to 2023 and artificial intelligence is invading our lives. Today AI is impacting our jobs, relationships and more.
As technologies mature, AI technology is impacting our lives and we are moving towards an AI-influenced future. Analyzing social media or other online activity affects us. It is predicting our behavior patterns, which helps in advertising. AI is also reshaping the way we work, the education system and healthcare.
Chat GPT is a trained bot that interacts with humans in a conversational format and answers their questions. People all over the world are hooked on this bot, which sounds like a game-changer, but we must be careful that we let this bot play with our minds.
A woman in South London recently asked the bot if she should divorce her husband because she had been having an affair for six months. After a long conversation with the bot, she decides to divorce her husband and stay with her lover. Because ChatGPT asked him to do so!
So, to test how much the bot can do and why we’re going crazy over it, I asked it a few questions. First, I asked for tips on dealing with a rebellious teenage daughter and it gave me some advice, that it’s important to remember that teenage rebellion is normal and your daughter is just testing your limits and trying to seek independence. With patience and understanding, you can help guide them through this difficult phase.
Why is it so important?
I asked this bot again, do you know more people than us? “As a language model, I’m trained with a large amount of text data, so I can have more information than a person,” says the polite bot. But that added, his knowledge is based on the textual information I’ve been trained on, and my ability to understand and process that information may be limited compared to a human. I have neither the power of reasoning, nor human feelings or consciousness.
The next question was, can he write real fiction and write like writers like Jeffrey Archer, JK Rowling?
At this the confident bot said, “Yes, I can write something that can be used to write a fictional novel.” I was shocked, I was going to ask it to write an article for me but then it got caught. Bott explains that its creation cannot have the same level of creativity, originality and human emotion as a novel written by a human being.
Twist in the story
Chat GPT provides human-like responses and information but we must not forget that this tool is only human-like and therefore it cannot connect with humans and cannot connect with humans like us.
It lacks the individual’s experience and understanding of complex human nature, and thus over-reliance on it can limit man’s creative abilities. It would be better to use it only as an aid.
So, after a long one-on-one chat with Chat GPT, I thought all our human responses would give bots a lot more information about how we think! Does giving it more information give us an idea of how humans can control it? It sounds scary! However, we humans created AI. In the meantime we may wonder if it is really wise to turn machines into humans!
