Rituraj Gaikwad said, “Honestly, after the fifth six, only one person came to my mind, Yuvraj Singh. I saw him hit six sixes in an over in the 2007 (T20) World Cup when I was very young. I wanted to be with him and so I wanted to go to the sixth. I never dreamed that I would hit six sixes in a row.
Gaikwad added, “When I got six, I thought why not go for seventh. I think it was not about hitting six sixes or seven sixes, it was about trying to maximize that over, get as many runs as possible for the team. That was the original plan, and thankfully it worked.
Ruturaj Gaikwad Records: Notably, Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 43 runs in an over in the Vijay Hazare Trophy quarter-final match between Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh at the Narendra Modi Stadium B Ground in Ahmedabad on Monday, which no one has scored till date. While playing for Maharashtra, Gaikwad set a world record by hitting seven sixes in an over off Uttar Pradesh left-arm spinner Shiva Singh. He got this extra six because of the no ball.
