FIFA World Cup 2022 Match Report: Netherlands and Senegal book Round of 16 tickets from Group A, while Qatar, Ecuador are eliminated.

The football teams of Netherlands and Senegal qualified for the Round-16 of the FIFA World Cup-2022 on Tuesday. Both these teams have secured tickets to their respective knockout rounds. The Netherlands secured their place in the next round with a 2-0 win over hosts Qatar. On the other hand, Senegal advanced to the next round after defeating Ecuador 2-1 in a tough match.
Both these matches are held at the same time today. The Netherlands had no trouble beating Qatar at the Al Bayt Stadium, while Senegal struggled against Ecuador at the Khalifa International Stadium in Doha. A draw in this match would have seen Ecuador advance to the next round, but Senegal thwarted all their efforts.
Senegal showed a strong game
The match between Senegal and Ecuador was very close. The first half was nearing its end but despite no goals, Senegal took the lead in the 44th minute. He scored this goal in penalty. Angelo Preciado couldn’t handle the bouncing ball and Pep Sar took the ball into the box. Here Piero Hincapie is fouled and Senegal are awarded a penalty which is converted.
In the second, Ecuador equalized. Moises Saido scored this goal for Ecuador. This goal came in the 67th minute. Ecuador gets a corner. Gonzala Plata headed the corner in front of the goal post. Félix Torres attempted to curl the ball into the net with a header, but the ball went to a standing back CDO, who flicked the ball into the net with a light touch of foot to equalize for Ecuador. However, Ecuador’s joy was short-lived as Kauli Kulubali went ahead again with a second goal for Senegal just three minutes later. Couldn’t match Ecuador again from here.
Dominion of the Netherlands
The host Qatar team could not stand in front of a strong team like the Netherlands. Qatar is the second host country to exit the FIFA World Cup in the first round. The Netherlands scored in the 26th minute of the first half. Davy Klaassen of the Netherlands takes the ball and passes it to Cody Gakpo. The player put the ball into the net to give the Netherlands a 1-0 lead.
The first half ended with the Netherlands 1-0. Then he doubled the lead in the second half. The second goal for the Netherlands came in the 49th minute. Luke Dejong scored this goal on the rebound. Klaassen passes to Memphis Depay. Depay hit the goal post, where Michal Barsham stopped the ball and Dejong fired the rebound into the net to give the Netherlands a 2–0 lead. The Netherlands scored a third goal in the 68th minute but the goal was disallowed by the referee with the help of VAR.
