India vs Australia: Jasprit Bumrah is unlikely to play the entire Test series against Australia (IND vs AUS Test Series). India captain Rohit Sharma said he expects Jasprit Bumrah to make it to the final two Tests, a BCCI official confirmed to InsideSport. Chances of Bumrah being fit in time for the India vs Australia series are slim. Instead, he may make a comeback before IPL 2023. Bumrah is currently recovering from a stress fracture in his lower back and has not been named for the first two Tests against Australia in the Border Gavaskar Trophy. It will take another month, a senior BCCI official told InsideSport. He said, “It is highly unlikely that Jasprit will be 100% fit for the Australia series. Back injuries take time and rehabilitation is a long process. As of now, he is ineligible for selection and how long it will take to make a comeback is still doubtful.”

The selectors did not pick Bumrah in the team for the first two Tests against Australia. He was named for the Sri Lanka ODI series, but was ruled out due to a back strain complaint. Since then he is doing rehab again. Although he recently returned to bowling in the nets at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore, he is still a month away from achieving 100% match fitness.

However, Indian captain Rohit Sharma expressed hope for Bumrah’s return on Tuesday. He said that the team management is in constant touch with the NCA and BCCI’s medical team regarding Bumrah.

India vs Australia: Will Jasprit Bumrah play against Australia? Rohit Sharma said

“Not too sure about Bumrah but I hope he plays in the last two Tests against Australia,” Rohit told a press conference after India’s 90-run win over New Zealand in the third ODI.

“We don’t want to take any chances because back injuries are always serious. We still have a lot of cricket to play. We are in regular contact with NCA’s physios and doctors. The medical team will give him full time to get fit.
