Congress will definitely have a role to play in uniting the opposition. So there is no need to tell Jairam Ramesh again and again that there will be no opposition unity without Congress or that Congress will become so powerful after Bharat Jora Yatra that no one can ignore it. These things are by no means because in most states there is no conflict between regional parties with the Congress Where there is conflict, no matter how powerful the Congress, coordination will be difficult. So in time opposition unity will develop and Congress will also play a role in that. The Congress will get the most help in this task from the leaders of Bihar. Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar will be most helpful for Congress in this task.
Lalu Prasad said in Patna that he and Nitish would visit Sonia Gandhi together. Nitish is yet to meet Sonia and Rahul after becoming Chief Minister. Tejashwi Yadav met Sonia Gandhi in Delhi. Nitish Kumar was in Delhi for several days and met opposition leaders but Sonia Gandhi was abroad. That’s why I couldn’t meet. Nitish then said that he would meet Sonia Gandhi after returning from abroad. However, whenever Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar meet, there should be no difference. Both these leaders will make way for the Congress in the opposition alliance.
While the Congress is part of the alliance in Bihar and Jharkhand, Lalu and Nitish will try to do so in other states as well. Both of them could play a role in bringing the Congress into the socialist camp. The most interesting cases are in Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, Telangana and Haryana. Akhilesh Yadav, HD Kumaraswamy, K Chandrasekhar Rao and Omprakash Chautala, Lalu Prasad and Nitish Kumar can do the job of building harmony in the Congress. This will have a major impact on electoral prospects.
