JDS politics JDS politics will be interesting

Assembly elections in Karnataka after three months. As of now, three parties – BJP, Congress and JDS are preparing to contest the elections separately. BJP has made it clear that they will not ally with anyone. However, Congress and JDS have not made any such announcement. These two parties have a soft and warm relationship. JDS feels that it has the advantage of fighting alone as it can get 30 to 40 seats by fighting alone and after elections it can tie up with any party in case of a hung assembly. He may become Chief Minister in post-election combination, but less chance of pre-election combination.

That is why JDS leaders are hesitant about pre-poll coordination. He feels that the Congress can benefit from pre-poll coordination. Meanwhile, Congress national president Mallikarjun Kharge wrote a letter to JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda inviting him to Srinagar on January 30 to participate in the concluding program of Congress’ Bharat Joro Yatra. Deve Gowda expressed his inability to go there but wished Rahul Gandhi well for his visit. Note that Kharg hails from Karnataka and has good relations with Deve Gowda. So Deve Gowda can talk to Kharg after showing goodwill towards the journey. However, Congress state president DK Sivakumar will oppose this alliance. But if the Congress does not declare Sivakumar as its chief ministerial rival, then coordination with the JD(S) is possible.
