Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren is currently doing politics. Central government agencies have started taking action against him, his family and party leaders, while he has taken strict action against BJP leaders. Hemant Soren has approved the disproportionate assets case against five leaders Randhir Singh, Amar Bauri, Neera Yadav, Lewis Marandi and Neelkant Singh Munda who are ministers in the Raghubar Das government of the state. The state’s anti-corruption bureau will investigate these five former ministers. These five ministers have been selected very carefully. They include an upper caste, a Dalit, a backward, a tribal and a Christian. Not only this, these five represent five different geographical parts of Jharkhand.
However, the state government had earlier filed multiple cases against BJP MP Nishikant Dube, who was vocal against Chief Minister Hemant Soren. A case has been filed against Babulal Marandi’s close aide Sunil Tiwari. Advocate Rajeev Kumar, who had filed a public interest litigation that landed the government in trouble, was caught in a bribery case through a businessman considered close to the government. Now a case of disproportionate wealth has been filed against five former ministers.
Even without considering the merits of any of these cases, it can be said that it is a retaliatory act and the Chief Minister is losing his privileges. They have the advantage now that they say in public that they are being harassed by the central government because they are tribals. It gives them sympathy. But when they themselves select tribal, dalit, christian, backward, upper caste people and judge them, they lose sympathy. It would then be assumed that if the Center is misusing its agency, then the State Government is also misusing its agency. That may be what some BJP leaders in the state fear, but what difference will it make to the BJP? In Delhi, Narendra Modi and Amit Shah will have to take decisions and the party will have to contest elections with them alone.
