Top leaders of Bharatiya Janata Party are keeping an eye on the activities of former Rajasthan Chief Minister Bashundhara Raj. Recently, when he planned to travel to the state, the team gave him the green signal. However, informed sources say that this time the party does not want to participate in the election on his face. The team is planning to replace him with a new face. However, there is some apprehension over this as the party has yet to create another face in Rajasthan politics. BJP has no alternative to Bashundhara. Despite this, the party could contest the election under a joint leadership rather than contesting the election by pitting him against the Chief Minister.
According to informed sources, by contesting the election under a joint leadership, the party will send a message that any other leader can also become the Chief Minister. For this, Union Minister and Jodhpur MP Gajendra Singh Shekhawat is being planned to contest the assembly elections. If the party contests him in the assembly elections, it will automatically create a message that he can become the Chief Minister if the BJP wins the elections. He is said to be very close to Union Home Minister Amit Shah and two years ago when there were rumors of a rebellion in the Congress, Shekhawat was said to have been in touch with Congress leaders. The Ashok Gehlot government of the state also investigated him. So he is being talked about as the high command’s choice. Although earlier Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore was also said to be preferred but he is isolated these days. However, if they are asked to contest assembly elections, the picture becomes more interesting.
