PM Modi to meet Putin, read big updates

  1. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Samarkand to attend the 22nd meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization. On Friday, he will hold a bilateral meeting with the President of Russia.
  2. Many leaders including Prime Minister Modi will meet each other at this first SCO summit after the Corona pandemic. Prime Minister Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbez Sharif are participating in the conference.
  3. Russian Ambassador to India Denis Alipov told news agency ANI that both Prime Minister Modi and Vladimir Putin are going to attend the SCO summit. There will be a bilateral meeting between the two leaders.
  4. Russian news agency TASS quoted presidential aide Yuri Ushakov as saying that the international agenda will also be discussed with Modi at the Shanghai summit. Besides, the two leaders will discuss all issues including strategic stability, the situation in the Asia Pacific region.
  5. Modi and Putin met earlier in July. Putin visited India last year i.e. 2021. At this time, the two leaders discussed all issues. At the same time, the two leaders spoke on the phone about a ceasefire during the Russia-Ukraine war.
  6. Other leaders, including Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi, will also attend the annual SCO summit. Before leaving for Samarkand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a statement that he looked forward to exchanging views on current issues, expansion and taking forward cooperation within the grouping. “At the SCO Summit, I look forward to exchanging views on current, regional and international issues, expanding the SCO and deepening multilateral and mutually beneficial cooperation within the organization,” Modi said.
  8. Prime Minister Modi said, ‘Many decisions are expected to be taken at the Shanghai summit for mutual cooperation in the fields of trade, economy, culture and tourism.’ Apart from this, I will have a bilateral meeting with some other leaders attending the summit, he said.
