Addressing the National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asked to reconcile the country’s old and new systems.

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi National Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction on Friday (NPDRR) The session, inaugurated by the NDRF team in its third edition, was organized on the theme ‘Creating local change in a changing climate’. While inaugurating the session, PM Modi addressed the NDRF jawans present. At that time, Prime Minister Modi said that the whole world appreciated the efforts of the Indian team in the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.
On this occasion PM Modi also said that there is a need to enrich local construction materials and construction technology with today’s technology. Prime Minister Modi also honored the winners of the Subhash Chandra Bose Apda Prabandha Award in his speech. Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) and Lunglei Fire Station Mizoram are the winners of the award this year.

Prime Minister Modi praised both these institutions. PM Modi said that the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority has been doing excellent work during various calamities ranging from cyclones to tsunamis. Similarly, Mizoram’s Lunglei Fire Station worked tirelessly to bring the forest fire under control saving the entire area as well as preventing the fire from spreading.
Prime Minister Modi congratulated all colleagues working in these two institutions for their excellent work. Talking about the theme of this event, Prime Minister Modi said, ‘India’s familiarity with this subject is very old in a way. Because it is an integral part of our heritage. Even today when we look at ancient cities, this element is clearly visible. Disaster management measures in this country are always local, solutions are also local, strategies are also local.

Prime Minister Modi recalled the Kutch earthquake in Gujarat while discussing local measures to deal with natural disasters. At that time he said, ‘The houses where the people of Kutch live are called Bhunga, they are mud houses. We know that Kutch in Gujarat was the epicenter of major earthquakes at the beginning of this century. This strong earthquake did not affect the damaged houses. It contains many lessons related to technology.
