Afghanistan: India along with UNWFP will supply 20 thousand tonnes of wheat to Afghanistan through Chabahar port.

New Delhi: India and 5 countries of Central Asia today i.e. 7 March terrorism and discuss and emphasize ways to jointly counter the threat of extremism Afghanistan The land should not be used for planning any terrorist activities. The meeting was held in New Delhi.

The first meeting of the India-Central Asia Joint Working Group focused on threats related to terrorism, extremism and drug trafficking as well as the humanitarian situation in Afghanistan. The meeting emphasized on building a truly inclusive and representative political structure. It aims to respect the rights of all Afghans, including women.

In the meeting, India announced that it will work in partnership with the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) to supply 20,000 tonnes of wheat as aid to Afghanistan through Iran’s Chabahar port. Earlier, India supplied around 40,000 tonnes of wheat by land through Pakistan, but faced many hurdles.

The meeting was attended by special envoys and senior officials of India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. Representatives from WFP and United Nations Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC) countries also participated.

How to deal with terrorist threats

The officials exchanged views on the political, security and humanitarian situation as well as Afghanistan. They discussed the threats of terrorism, extremism, radicalization and drug trafficking and the possibility of coordination to counter these threats. Special emphasis should be placed on not using Afghan soil for any terrorist activities, training and planning.
