India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the India-Bangladesh Diesel Pipeline today. According to media reports, this pipeline was completed at an estimated cost of Rs 377 crore.

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina He inaugurated the India-Bangladesh Friendship Pipeline through video conference on Saturday. Prime Minister Modi said on the occasion that its foundation was laid in 2018. It was also inaugurated today with the help of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. He said, with the help of this pipeline, 1 million metric tons of high speed diesel can be supplied to various cities in the northern part of Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister said that it is satisfactory that the work of this project is continuing despite the Corona epidemic. He said that in the last few years Bangladesh has made remarkable progress due to the many works of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her efficient leadership. Today every Indian is proud of it and we are happy that we have been able to contribute to this development journey of Bangladesh. He said that there is full confidence that this pipeline will further accelerate the development of Bangladesh and will be an excellent example of increasing connectivity between the two countries.

A big help from the rail network in times of Corona

The Prime Minister said that for many years, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has discussed her vision of restoring pre-1965 railway connectivity. Since then both countries have worked together and made progress. He said, as a result of this, during the corona epidemic, we were able to send oxygen and other things to Bangladesh with the help of the rail network.

The Prime Minister said that India is supplying more than 1100 MW of electricity to Bangladesh. The first unit of Maitri Super Thermal Power Project has started its work. It was inaugurated during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India last year. According to Modi, work on its second unit will also start soon.

Good example

Modi said what an auspicious coincidence, the inauguration is coming on the day after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s birth centenary. He said that Bangabandhu’s Sonar Bengali vision included people-friendly development and prosperity of the entire region. This joint project is a good example of his vision. According to media reports, this pipeline was completed at a cost of Rs 377 crore.
