A massive fire broke out at the Central Jamia Masjid in Dras in Kargil district of Ladakh on Wednesday evening. Because of this he is completely damaged. Later, the fire was brought under control with the help of army, police and fire and emergency department. However, the mosque suffered a lot of damage. It was reported that it started like a fire and quickly spread throughout the mosque. Immediately after the incident, the police, local people and the army reached the spot to douse the fire.
Fire tenders have been called from Kargil and other areas to douse the fire. Local residents protested as there was no fire engine in the area. Chief Executive Councilor, LAHDC-Kargil, Feroze Khan expressed grief over the fire incident.
As can be seen in the pictures and videos, the fire was very terrible. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

Political activist Sajjad Kargili tweeted that he was saddened to hear of the unfortunate fire incident at one of the oldest mosques in Dras. Dras is a sensitive area but even more unfortunate is that there is no fire service. Such incidents have happened in the past too but the UT administration has learned nothing.
