Nirmal Kumar quit the party and joined the AIADMK on Sunday and alleged that Annamalai had a secret deal with the DMK minister.
After 2019 contested 3 elections together, defeated
Since the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the AIADMK has lost three elections in alliance with the BJP. The AIADMK alliance was also defeated in the recent by-elections in the state. But here both parties did not campaign together. Sources indicate that the AIADMK is blaming the BJP.

In November last year, former chief minister Palaniswami said there was no need to meet Union home minister Amit Shah during his personal visit to the state.
BJP state chief K Annamalai said the AIADMK is hunting the BJP which shows that his party has “arrived”. The state BJP chief said, “It shows that we are moving forward in Tamil Nadu. BJP is here now.”
BJP accuses AIADMK
Comparing himself to late political leaders of the state, he said- “Like leaders like J Jayalalithaa and M Karunanidhi, I will work as a leader. I’m not a manager, I’m a leader.”

However, the AIADMK has denied that it is preying on the BJP, which has no significant presence in the state. AIADMK spokesperson Kovai Sathyan described Annamalai as a “designated manager of a corporate party by the party leadership”.
Criticizing the BJP state chief for “defaming” Jayalalithaa, he said, “When the BJP gets people from our cadre, it thumps its chest, but when her party cadres come to us, they start shouting.
In state politics, the BJP has inducted many AIADMK leaders into the fold. The BJP has inducted several senior AIADMK leaders, including former minister Naynar Nagendran, who is now the leader of the party in the House.
The tussle between the two parties erupted when the BJP, with just four MLAs in the 234-member assembly, positioned itself as the main opposition amid the ongoing tussle between E Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam.
