Orissa A massive fire at a shopping complex in K Puri on Wednesday night gutted 40 shops, and over 100 people were rescued. According to police, the fire broke out at a cloth shop on the first floor of Lakshmi Market Complex at Marichikot Chawk on Grand Road around 9 pm. He said that 40 shops in the shopping complex were gutted and five fire tenders were deployed to douse the fire.

Three people were found unconscious
Police said the three people trapped on the roof of the building were unconscious and taken to the district hospital by firemen. He said, there is a hotel on one floor of this building located near the century-old Jagannath temple. Around 106 tourists from Nashik, Maharashtra were rescued from the hotel safely.
The fire is suspected to have started from an electrical short circuit
Deputy Fire Officer Pradeep Kumar Raut said that 90 percent of the fire was brought under control by 10:30 pm. Puri Sub-Collector Bhavataran Sahu said that we are yet to confirm how the fire started. Police suspect that the fire may have started from an electrical short circuit.
