Additional Deputy Commissioner of Hanhatial Sajikpui informed this information. they said Maudra village Search and rescue teams recovered the bodies of three more from the rubble of a stone quarry. Along with this, 11 bodies have been recovered so far, one is still missing. A search operation is underway.

Earlier, Hanhathial district deputy commissioner R Lalremsanga said 12 people were missing in the mine collapse and eight bodies were recovered till 7 am on Tuesday. He said that a search operation is going on at the spot. A team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), comprising two officers and 13 jawans, reached there on Tuesday morning.

According to Lalremsanga, four of the 12 people missing in the accident were employees of ABCI Infrastructure Pvt Ltd and eight were working with contractors. People present at the spot said that Assam Rifles and Border Security Force (BSF) personnel assisted the local police and people in the rescue operation.

4 workers from West Bengal

4 out of 8 workers who died in Mizoram accident are from West Bengal. Their dead bodies have been recovered. The deceased have been identified as 25-year-old Madan Das, 21-year-old Rakesh Biswas, 22-year-old Mintu Mondal and 25-year-old Buddhadev Mondal. The three deceased Buddhadev, Mintu and Rakesh Tehatta were residents of Kalitala Para area, while Madan Das was a resident of Pipragachi area of ​​Chapra in North Twenty-four Parganas.

When did the accident happen?

Earlier, Hanhathial Superintendent of Police Vineet Kumar said the incident took place at 3 pm on Monday, when ABCI Infrastructure Pvt Ltd workers were working at the stone quarry located in Moudarah village in the district. He said, 13 workers were working in the mine at the time of the accident, one of them managed to get out, and 12 were trapped in the rubble.
