Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) Chairman Nitin Gupta said, “So far 6.85 crore tax returns (ITRs) have been filed for the assessment year 2022-23 and we expect this number to increase by December 31.”

6.85 crore so far for the financial year 2021-22 Income Tax Return (ITR Filing) has been filed. This number may increase till December 31. A senior official told ‘PTI-Bhasha’ this information. For the financial year 2021-22 in individual category Income Tax Return The last date for filing (ITR) was July 31, while for corporates and others whose accounts need to be audited, the date was November 7, 2022. If anyone by this deadline return If you can’t fulfill it, you can file the return by December 31 after paying the penalty.

This was higher than the 6.97 crore filed in 2020-21. Refunds of around Rs 2 lakh crore have been issued so far this financial year.

Revenues exceed budget estimates

Along with this, the government’s direct tax collection increased by 31 percent to Rs 10.54 lakh crore as of November 10. After adjusting for tax refunds, the government’s net tax collection is Rs 8.71 lakh crore. 61.31 percent of the tax collection target set in the budget in one year has come to the government treasury. That is, more than 61 percent of the tax collection target set in the budget estimate has been achieved. Now it is believed that tax collection will be higher than the budget estimate kept by the government till March 31, 2023. Direct tax collection reached Rs 14.20 lakh crore with a 25-30 percent increase in budget estimates.

How to get a refund check

  1. Visit www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in.
  2. Log-in by filling PAN, Password and Captcha code details.
  3. Click on Review Returns/Forms.
  4. Next, select Income Tax Return from the drop down menu.
  5. Select the assessment year for which you want to check IT return status.
  6. Click on the Acknowledgment Number ie hyperlink.
  7. You will see a pop-up on the screen, which will show the return filing timeline. Like when ITR was filed and verified, date of completion of processing, date of refund etc.

  • Fill your PAN details here.
